AI manifesto
A few weeks ago, we promoted the eko.org petition for an AI manifesto. The point is that AI was built on our collective human knowledge — it belongs to us, not to a handful of billionaires. That is why developers and decision-makers should commit to at least five principles that will shape the future of AI.
- Humans are in the driver's seat
- AI must not wipe out humanity or cause catastrophic and existential risks
- Human rights and democracy must be protected
- AI companies and their users are liable for damages
- Impacts on the environment and climate must be minimized
The manifesto can be signed here https://action.eko.org/a/ki-manifest-2026
The issue is stirring society
We've since come across some other interesting articles under the heading “AI Manifesto” and would like to share them here to encourage further reading:
- For something a bit lighter, here's a short TV movie (50 min) from ZDF about four filmmakers who take part in an experiment.

- Even the creators of AI sometimes have doubts about it. For example, (former?) OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has drafted a 13-page AI manifesto. There is a lot of truth in it, especially regarding the limited horizons of politics (and politicians), which lag years behind current developments. But Sam Altman is not a neutral player due to his position. It is worth reading critically.

- Matthias Horx offers a much more in-depth and profoundly human critique of AI in his book "The AI Manifesto". He focuses primarily on the contrast between humans and machines and what defines us as human beings. We found it interesting that he, too, addresses the claim "The more AI develops, the dumber it becomes". In our three-part series on artificial intelligence, we repeatedly came to the conclusion that human knowledge is finite and that its "expansion" through AI, resulting from the propagation of errors, can only have negative effects.
The other "features", such as the results of AI "art" and the AI's recurring hallucinations, also receive poor marks in his assessment. Even our Stellungnahme zur Text- und Bildgenerierung durch KI works on this subject.
