We've had enough!
Last Saturday, 8,000 people and more than 40 tractors gathered to voice their support for sustainable agriculture worldwide. The focus was on GMO-free, small-scale, and environmentally friendly agriculture — with fair producer prices, good food for all, species-appropriate animal husbandry, and climate justice. The current food system is responsible for more than a third of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. At the same time, the agricultural industry is relying on genetic engineering and simplified pesticide approvals – thereby endangering our natural resources. Every year, around 2,600 farms close down. The situation is similarly dramatic in the food industry, for example for bakeries. At the same time, food in Germany now costs around 30 percent more than in 2021. Millions of people cannot afford healthy food, and the queues at food banks are getting longer and longer. Worldwide, 2.3 billion people do not have enough to eat — and more than 670 million people suffer from acute hunger.
Again our protest was united, colorful, and diverse, without hatred or incitement. We say no to right-wing extremist ideologies and parties, misanthropy, hostility toward democracy, fantasies of overthrowing the government, and racism!
2026 – Year of Women in AgricultureAt this year's rally, only women, non-binary, trans, and agender people spoke because this year's "We've had enough!" demonstration took place during the International Year of Women in Agriculture. On the occasion of the 100th Green Week, an important agriculture and food fair taking place at the same time in Berlin, the alliance handed over a protest note to the Ministry of Agriculture in the morning, listing the above-mentioned shortcomings and demanding changes.
