This amounts to approximately 2.5 billion attacks per year on the Bundesbank's IT infrastructure. So far, the Bundesbank has been successful in defending itself against these attacks. The mutual arms race with ever new Trojans and the improvement of defenses has so far worked in favor of the authority. Compared to the 2-3 attacks per minute with invented passwords and email addresses, we are still doing well on our server. However, we are not counting the many attacks on our firewall in order to prevent the log files from overflowing. ;-) In an interview with the Tagesspiegel newspaper, Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel expressed concern about security despite the successes achieved so far. By the latter, he means ensuring payment transactions even in the event of external problems. Even if the ideas expressed by Interior Minister Dobrindt in response to cyberattacks – “We will strike back, even abroad” – will not solve the problems that may arise, the Bundesbank is confident that it will be able to ensure the supply of cash, even in the event of power failures, for example. Unfortunately, we do not know how this will be achieved...
