Infringements on the fundamental rights of all people

Defying all reason, the black-red coalition government continues to work on its sweeping surveillance package—as if there were any justification for it. In doing so, it is—just as it has done with migration policy—further paving the way for the AfD’s ideology. People are to be forced into behavior that conforms to the government’s will, and all of us, as well as state authority, are being made increasingly dependent on large corporations.

The Society for Civil Liberties (GfF), among others, has criticized this last point in particular. It considers the package of measures on biometric searches on the internet and automated data analysis to be “largely unconstitutional.” It has been demonstrated that these are not targeted (search) measures, but rather “tools for potential mass surveillance.”

In a democratic constitutional state, it is unthinkable that government surveillance should be carried out by private companies. Netzpolitik.org notes: One such company is, for example, the controversial PimEyes, which netzpolitik.org has reported on frequently. This company analyzed and stored millions of faces from photos on the internet in violation of all EU data protection laws.

The GfF's analysis now spans 30 pages, and other NGOs, such as Digitalcourage, Amnesty International, and the Chaos Computer Club, have also voiced strong criticism of the proposed plan.
