Climate Politics one should write without C-D-U !

... and even without the AfD, as we saw yesterday at the large demonstration in Berlin in support of renewable energy. Nationwide, more than 80,000 people took to the streets. Around 24,000 demonstrators gathered in Berlin, 15,000 in Hamburg, 30,000 in Cologne, and 12,000 in Munich. The participants called for an end to fossil fuel dependence and a change of course from Economics Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU).

The economy minister's plans to severely curtail the expansion of renewable energy and rely on gas-fired power are causing anger and bewilderment among protesters, given the war over these very resources in the Middle East.

Climate activist Luisa Neubauer spoke in Berlin outside the Ministry of Economics about a "undermining of the energy transition" at the expense of consumers. Instead of seizing one of the last opportunities to address the consequences of climate change. The call to action for the demonstration states:

Why We Support the Energy Transition

The plans from the Ministry of Economic Affairs are slowing down the expansion of renewables and jeopardizing an energy future that is clean, secure, and affordable. Especially in times of war, crisis, and sharp price spikes, it becomes clear that oil and gas make us dependent and vulnerable to blackmail. Renewable energy protects consumers from fossil fuel cost traps, strengthens our independence, and is the best response to the climate crisis.

Fossil Fuel Dependence: Expensive and Unreliable

Soaring energy prices, geopolitical crises, and authoritarian regimes show us just how risky fossil fuels are. Oil and gas drive up costs and leave Germany vulnerable. Renewable energy ensures security of supply, stable prices, and greater democratic control over our energy supply.
