22.04.2026 Verschlüsselte Kommunikation retten!

Save encrypted communication!

In many of our articles, we have explained why it is so important for all of us for our privacy to use encrypted communication. In more than a thousand examples, we have highlighted cases where tech giants (GAFAM) steal our personal data and use it to increase their immeasurable wealth. To find examples, simply search for the word data scandals or data breaches on our websites.

That is why we have been recommending encrypted messaging apps for years instead of using the data-hungry WhatsApp. We recommend, for example, Signal, Session, Matrix, Bitmessage, Briar, SimpleX, and Threema. Within our association, we use Signal, Bitmessage, and Session in addition to PGP-encrypted email.

Yesterday, while using Session, we received the following message:

We had hoped this day would never come, but Session has now entered its final 90 days of operation. Session has received 65.000$ from the community, but unfortunately this is not sufficient to retain full-time developers. We will continue on a primarily volunteer basis to help maintain Session until July 8, 2026.

However, we still need multiple alternatives for our encrypted communication. That is why we can only support the call from the Session developers and urge donations to the Session Technology Foundation (STF).
