However, the central demand was that no intermediate-range weapons be stationed in Germany and that the EU’s arms buildup be finally countered with offers to negotiate. The peace movement knows from the experiences of the 1980s:
Intermediate-range weapons are purely offensive weapons and increase the risk of war. German or European cruise missiles also carry the serious risk of a preemptive strike and thus endanger our security. Therefore, our goal remains a Europe free of medium-range weapons! We also oppose the U.S. military bases in Germany, which are once again being used for the war of aggression against Iran that violates international law.

However, the experiences of the 1980s also teach us this: Hundreds of thousands of people really need to take to the streets for politicians to reconsider, and unfortunately, we are still far from that. Further actions by the peace movement are planned for October 3 — but until then, we also want to remain active with school strikes against a new draft and actions on Anti-War Day around September 1.
