Does shooting faster mean you die a little later?

In recent years, remote killing has become increasingly common. With no regard for people (or human rights) and the last remnants of the Hague Convention on Land Warfare of 1899 and 1907, destroying as much (civilian) infrastructure as possible is currently becoming the trend. Donald Trump and Israel’s prime minister have even declared this to be the norm — a permanent state of affairs that transcends any agreed-upon ceasefire.

The key to gaining a military advantage is said to be ensuring that as many of one’s own missiles as possible reach their targets unscathed. The methods for achieving this are

speed,

stealth capability,

quantity, e.g., through drone swarms, as planned in the Franco-German FCAS project.

An unstoppable new nuclear weapon?

Following the failure of FCAS — due to disputes between Airbus and Dassault — France still had two options and, as reported by telepolis.de, has now opted for speed. ASN4G, the new French air-to-ground missile “Air-Sol Nucléaire de 4ème Génération,” is designed to reach its target at more than five times the speed of sound — 6,100 km/h. The European missile manufacturer MBDA was awarded the contract for this on June 2.

The only conceivable advantage of this enormous effort is that the enemy would have 2–3 times less time to launch its own missiles to destroy humanity.

You no longer have to spend 20 minutes thinking about the ethical issues of a nuclear war — just 5 minutes — before launching a counterstrike. Perhaps we, as “civilians,” are also operating under false assumptions here, since the very purpose of military training is to prioritize the chain of command over any independent thought.
