All Creatures Welcome

Even beings from the most distant galaxies are welcome at this year's Chaos Computer Club congress in Hamburg. Following the AEG motto from the 1970s (Switch off—Switch on—Go), this year's motto is: Power Cycles - System runterfahren, neu starten!

What should be shut down and what should be restarted?

The CCC's objective is very clear: "The Congress sees itself as an international, commercial-free, inclusive, self-organized event. We want to invite people to think and participate, hack and tinker, network and develop visions."

The topics are:
  • What can a society oppose the fantasies of domination of multinational private intelligence services with pre-cog fantasies?
  • How can we counter the omnipresent resignation in the face of intrusive "AI" overlords who want to give the powerful more tools to displace independent-minded people in creative professions?
  • How can we power-cycle fragmented and planet-consuming processes in order to rethink them in a new and more sustainable way?
  • How can we build livable digital futures where TikTok and Instagram are only footnotes and where people who build open software, protocols, and interfaces and translate ideas of solidarity into technology are more valued than attention-optimized influencers?

To this end, participants will examine the pseudo-digital fantasies of our politicians, such as the ePA, the electronic patient record. Today's event on this topic: https://fahrplan.events.ccc.de/congress/2025/fahrplan/event/schlechte-karten-it-sicherheit-im-jahr-null-der-epa-fur-alle.

The upgrading and use of AI in "modern warfare" is also an issue: https://fahrplan.events.ccc.de/congress/2025/fahrplan/event/programmierte-kriegsverbrechen-uber-ki-systeme-im-kriegseinsatz-in-gaza-und-warum-it-fachleute-sich-dazu-auern-mussen.

Constanze Kurz reported yesterday on the surveillance of ordinary citizens, for example through the Palantir software developed by US right-wing extremist Peter Thiel. In several federal states, this software is even available to normal police authorities. https://fahrplan.events.ccc.de/congress/2025/fahrplan/event/blackbox-palantir.

You can still participate in person or online today and tomorrow ...
