The CDU has been putting the brakes on for decades
As a registered non-profit association, we are of course politically neutral. Nevertheless, we must strongly criticize the policies of the CDU/CSU since the turn of the millennium. (We would of course do the same for the Kohl government, but we will leave that aside as a historical relic.)
It's more about the last year with Chancellor Merz. But the course for today's misguided policies was set 10-20 years ago. It started with ignorance towards the solar industry, which was leading in Germany and then “had” to migrate to China. Wind energy followed suit, with the result that today's North Sea Conference is desperately searching for German suppliers of wind turbines.
Instead, the operating life of coal-fired power plants was extended, the end of combustion engines was postponed, and climate targets in transport and construction were scrapped. As a result, Germany has gone from being an innovator to bringing up the rear—in Norway, over 90% of new registrations are electric cars, and most wind power plants are located in China—even if President Trump doesn't see them...
And the height of ignorance and insolence in current CDU/CSU policy is the distraction and incitement of people against those who think differently – which means that in terms of political style – and unfortunately also content – it is no different from the AfD. The “highlights” of recent months:
- Sick notes issued over the phone are to be abolished, even though doctors view them positively due to the lower risk of infection and the relief they provide for employees.
- People will have to pay a "appointment fee" themselves for each visit to the doctor.
- Merz is calling for more overtime – even though 50% of it is unpaid. According to the Federal Statistical Office, 4.4 million employees worked overtime last year.
- In Berlin, the construction of cycle paths is being restricted, even though millions have been invested in a cycle path plan over the last three years.
- Now the part-time work law, which mainly benefits women, is being called into question.
- The federal government wants to abolish the eight-hour day. Longer or excessive working hours do not always lead to higher productivity, but often to lower productivity, writes Telepolis.de.
- On several occasions we have already discussed Merz's campaign promise not to incur any debt, which was forgotten immediately after the election ... and now we have 183 billions of aditional debt which will be paied by our children.
However, all this causes division and does nothing to improve the competitiveness of German industry. Many management errors can be found in the linked article. They are also a consequence of this policy, which is in the interests of the economy and contrary to people's lives and health.
