Life without digital coercion
Like the Freedom Not Fear campaign, the NGO Digitalcourage has long been calling for the right to an analog life to be enshrined in the German constitution. To enforce this demand, they are collecting signatures to hand over the petition to members of the Bundestag in Berlin on May 23, 2026, the day of the Basic Law – publicly and conspicuously. Digitalcourage writes to us:
47,000 people have already signed our digital coercion petition. 47,000 times it has been said: Not like this!
- "No way" to app coercion for basic services.
- "No way" to "digital only" for government services.
- "No way" to participation only with a smartphone, account, and data transfer.
And yet that is exactly what is happening everywhere right now. Ticket machines are disappearing, doctor's appointments are only available online, and the federal government wants "digital only" for administration. Digitalization without alternatives is becoming compulsory. This excludes many people.
And yet that is exactly what is happening everywhere right now. Ticket machines are disappearing, doctor's appointments are only available online, and the federal government wants to go "digital only" for administration. Digitalization without alternatives is becoming compulsory. This excludes many people.
Many affected individuals describe these cases to us on a daily basis. With our petition, we are therefore calling for the right to a life without digital coercion to be included in the Basic Law. The petition is now entering its final stages.
Sign here! Against exclusion, against ever-increasing surveillance – for freedom of choice!
