Action for International Law and Human Rights
Activists from the Peace Cooperative Network, IPPNW, and the DFG-VK gathered yesterday at noon in front of the Federal Chancellery in Berlin to protest the war waged by the U.S. and Israel against Iran. Activists from Action Freedom Not Fear were, of course, also present. The protesters were united in their view: The war was deliberately launched by the U.S. and Israel during ongoing negotiations. By waging this war of aggression, both countries are violating international law and must be held accountable. We particularly criticize the role of the German government in the conflict: Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Foreign Minister Wadephul (both CDU) are justifying this blatant violation of international law and supporting the war. Instead, the German government should follow Spain’s example and take a clear stand against the war waged by Trump and Netanyahu by denying US troops access to infrastructure, overflight rights, and logistics. The German government must take diplomatic initiatives to end the war and impose sanctions—such as a halt to German arms exports—against the aggressor states. During the protest in front of the Federal Chancellery, an activist wearing a mask of Chancellor März and blood-stained shoes symbolically stomped on the International Law in front of the assembled press. Even though the protest was very photogenic, it is regrettable that no more peace activists showed up than the number of police officers the government sent. Presumably, the number of police officers was even higher, as there were a total of four police vans on site from which no one got out. This lack of peace activists, however, can of course be surpassed today at 3:30 p.m. at the Neptune Fountain by the TV Tower. The Berlin Peace Coordination (frikoberlin.de) has called for protests against the war and the war-mongering there as well. There, too, we will once again point out that the warmongers violating international law are based in the U.S. For Friko Berlin states the following regarding the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran: On February 28, 2026, the U.S. and Israel bombed Iran, assassinating the head of state as well as other members of the government and the military. They did so while negotiations were underway between the U.S. and Iran, in which Iran had agreed to accumulate ‘zero’ nuclear material capable of being used in atomic bombs. They did so even though the latest threat assessments from 16 U.S. intelligence agencies denied any of this.
