For Peace and Disarmament

The Berlin Peace Coordination, together with many supporters — including Action Freedom Not Fear — is calling for the Easter March on Saturday, April 4, starting at 1 p.m. at Mauerpark/Oderberger Straße. It is intended to be a demonstration for peace and disarmament. Our demands are clear: we call for:

  • Disarmament and peaceful conflict resolution instead of new U.S. intermediate-range and
  • No nuclear weapons on German soil
  • Investments in social services, culture, health, environmental protection, and education instead of trillions for the military and German offensive weapons
  • Dialogue with Russia instead of stoking hatred
  • Diplomacy instead of arms deliveries
  • Democracy instead of a war economy
  • Peace education in schools and civilian research at universities instead of training to kill
  • A future worth living for the younger generation instead of military service
  • The right of peoples to self-determination instead of the destruction of international law

STOP! Abolishing the UN Charter – Not in Our Name

The U.S. government is lashing out wildly both at home and abroad, dropping all pretense. There is only one goal left: to save its global hegemony. Through threats, blackmail, kidnappings, sanctions, open acts of war, and attempts at regime change, it is putting pressure on countries that refuse to dance to its tune: Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Greenland — what’s next?

The EU is talking tough and seizing the moment for a massive arms buildup. Not to appear de-escalating or even peace-oriented. Aside from Spain, no one is contradicting the U.S. or calling Trump’s wars of aggression a violation of international law.

When, if not now! We say no to the madness of war policy!

The grassroots movement Aufstehen also warns of the immediate danger of war:

No to conscription, “war readiness,” and war

Today we are living in the most dangerous times since the end of World War II. The threat of nuclear and conventional war on German soil is growing. ... With the planned military buildup funded by trillions in debt, a policy of dismantling the international legal system, unchecked rearmament, and state-sponsored piracy and blackmail through sanctions and terror, the world stands on the brink of disaster. We demand:

  • A clear “No” to the reintroduction of conscription, “war readiness,” and war!
  • Disarmament instead of accepting the expiration of all arms control treaties!
  • Germany’s accession to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons; nuclear weapons out of Germany!
  • No to the deployment of new medium-range weapons in Germany!
  • No to the policy of rearmament (5% of gross domestic product corresponds to approximately 40% of the annual federal budget). No cuts to social services for the military and arms industry!
  • Peace through adherence to the United Nations Charter, not through the imposition of might makes right!
  • Peace in Ukraine through the elimination of the causes of war, the recognition of the security interests of all parties involved, and self-determination for the people of the affected regions. No NATO membership, no NATO troops in Ukraine, and no further arms deliveries!
  • Peace for Palestine through a halt to arms deliveries to Israel and equal recognition of the rights of the Palestinian people and the Israeli people under international supervision, without a “Trump-style” peace council. Reconstruction instead of displacement!
  • An end to warmongering and one-sided reporting!
  • Stop the conversion of civilian production facilities into arms factories!
  • No military infrastructure projects at the expense of civilian budget items!

Only in peace will the resources become available that we so urgently need for education, health, and social services, for maintaining infrastructure, and for environmental and climate protection. The global arms race, driven by the U.S. and its allies — who account for over 60% of global military spending despite representing only about 10% of the world’s population — is primarily responsible for death, hunger, and underdevelopment worldwide.

Saturday, April 4, starting at 1 p.m. at Mauerpark/Oderberger Straße!

For all, who are not in Berlin: Easter Rallies are all over the country between Karfreitag, 3.4. and Easter Monday, 6.4.
