Trump wants to choose Iran's head of state

Following the US's war of aggression against Venezuela, which violated international law and left more than 200 people dead, Trump – together with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Court of Justice for war crimes – is now also risking a war that could leave tens of thousands dead. To Netanyahu's delight, his war aims are the same as Trump's:

Trump said literally: “Khamenei's son is a lightweight. I have to be involved in the appointment.”
This means that, following the introduction of the lifetime presidency in his Peace Council, he is also appointing himself as the decisive voice in the Iranian Guardian Council.

If it weren't for war and peace and many deaths, one could laugh at such megalomania. However, the US intelligence services are not laughing. Telepolis.de quotes a report in the Washington Post that refers to "people familiar with the content" from the intelligence services:

Neither a limited nor a comprehensive military offensive would be sufficient to break the firmly entrenched power of the clergy and Revolutionary Guards. Analysts assessed the prospect of the fragmented Iranian opposition taking control as "unlikely."

Even within the US government, opinions on the war aims vary greatly. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth emphasizes that Operation Epic Fury is aimed at destroying Iran's missiles, nuclear program, and navy, and not at overthrowing the government. Even that is more than the US "negotiating delegation" took to the talks with Iran in Geneva.
(Presidential?) spokeswoman Anna Kelly, on the other hand, stated: "The Iranian regime will be completely destroyed", according to Telepolis.de. However, the vast majority of the Iranian population rejects a change of power dictated from outside, especially by the West, because they are still aware of the 1953 coup initiated by Great Britain and the US that took away their elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh and brought the Shah to power. That is why there is no great interest in his son either.

Only one thing is certain: with the war against Iran, President Trump has launched another war of aggression that violates international law. This must be recognized as such by the media and our politicians, and pursued accordingly by the International Court of Justice.

Wir verurteilen die erneute völkerrechtswidrige Aggression der USA und Israels gegen den Iran und die Ermordung seines Staatsoberhaupts aufs schärfste. Es ist auch diesmal ein hinterhältiger Überfall während laufender Verhandlungen und wie der Angriff auf Venezuela vor wenigen Wochen ein Akt nackter imperialistischer Gewalt. Es handelt sich um einen weiteren unprovozierten Angriffskrieg, der unverhüllt auf einen Regime Change zielt, gerechtfertigt mit haltlosen Vorwürfen einer atomaren Bedrohung durch den Iran. Im Gegenteil, der Iran betonte bei den aktuellen Verhandlungen, "‘null‘ atombombenfähiges Nuklearmaterial anzuhäufen." Selbst die 16 US-Geheimdienste kamen in ihrer letzten gemeinsamen Bedrohungsanalyse zum Schluss, dass nichts auf ein iranisches Atomwaffenprogramm hindeutet. Zudem haben die USA und Israel das zivile Nuklearprogramm nach eigener Einschätzung im Juni letzten Jahres weitgehend zerstört.
Wir sind bestürzt und empört über die hohe Zahl von Opfern der massiven Bombardierung iranischer Städte. Nach Angaben des iranischen Roten Halbmonds wurden bereits am ersten Tag über 200 Menschen im Iran getötet, bei einem israelischen Luftangriff auf eine Grundschule in der südiranischen Stadt Minab allein mindestens 108 Schülerinnen.
Die rechtsextremen Regierungen Trumps und Netanjahus haben einen Krieg vom Zaun gebrochen, dessen weiterer Verlauf nicht abzusehen ist.

Ein Krieg, der als begrenzte Operation deklariert wird, entfaltet eine Dynamik, die weit über militärische Kalküle hinausreicht – historisch, religiös und geopolitisch. Der Nahost-Experte Michael Lüders spricht von einem Kipppunkt, der die Weltordnung verändern könnte.
