DGB: For a strong Peace Movement!
In light of World Peace Day — also known as Anti-War Day — tomorrow, September 1, the DGB is calling for greater efforts toward peace. On the page linked below, you can download the DGB’s statement and find a call to participate in the actions planned for the coming weeks.
The German Trade Union Federation writes:
The fight against social cuts must be linked to the fight against military buildup and war! The resolution adopted at the 2026 DGB Federal Congress must be brought to life:
“As trade unionists, we are therefore united by the unwavering determination to make an effective contribution to a world without war as part of a strong and broad-based peace movement. This is especially true in these times, when a military logic of thought and action is becoming increasingly prevalent. More than ever, we need a peace movement that raises its voice forcefully against this (...).”
The appeal concludes with the words:
- On September 26, stand up for a strong welfare state, decent work, and workers’ rights!
- On October 3, join us in Berlin and Stuttgart to protest against military buildup, conscription, and war!
- Support the “Unions Against Military Build-Up and War” initiative; take part in events and actions.

We say NO TO WAR PREPAREDNESS — YES TO PEACE!
For tomorrow, we can only add the event organized by Berlin’s Friko: Please come out in large numbers for the action at 5 p.m. at the Neue Wache on Unter den Linden.
We must redouble our efforts to make our protest and resistance against the ever-escalating war hysteria — which goes hand in hand with unprecedented cuts to social services — unmistakably clear. We must take to the streets; we must use our combined strength to combat powerlessness, despair, and resignation. No one will do the work of forcing a peace policy for us.
It’s up to us!
