Dobrindt Deports Afghan Refugees

Time and again, Interior Minister Dobrindt tells us that he wants to send Afghan criminals, in particular, back to their home country. As the article from "Die Zeit" linked below demonstrates, the majority of those deported are not convicted criminals.

Perhaps now, following the Taliban’s tolerated takeover of the Afghan embassy, convictions handed down by this oppressive regime are also being recognized as prior convictions. In any case, over a period of just over ten weeks, the Federal Police reported approximately 488 Afghans who are to be deported. Of the 267 (55%) people in the group for whom a corresponding request for administrative assistance was submitted to the Federal Police between July 8 and September 18, none have a criminal conviction.

As early as the end of July, Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) had stated that he would not limit himself exclusively to criminals and “persons posing a threat.”
