EU parliamentarian files lawsuit against Von der Leyen
According to a report in the taz newspaper, German MEP Fabio De Masi (BSW) has filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg. His accusation: lack of transparency and opaque contacts with the arms industry.
Von der Leyen has announced the "arming" of the EU and launched an armament program worth around 800 billion euros. This is to be financed largely through debt. In doing so, she acted without a corresponding decision by the EU Parliament. Many EU states are still opposed to common European debt. A lawsuit has also been filed with the ECJ on this issue.
De Masi's lawsuit also includes the accusation that von der Leyen violated her legal obligation to always respond to inquiries from Parliament. This accusation comes from many EU representatives from all political groups who condemn the Commission President's lack of transparency. The customs deal with President Trump was also concluded in a completely non-transparent manner.
