Life Without Digital Coercion
Just as Aktion Freiheit statt Angst fights against “forced digitization,” Digitalcourage is committed to ensuring that we all can continue to live a life free from “digital coercion.” With more and more applications, we are being forced to use certain apps. Often, we know little about them — or perhaps too much — namely, that they sell our personal data to others.
Our website features nearly 100 articles that can be found using the keyword “forced digitization”. These articles cover topics such as our health data in electronic patient records (ePA), ticket sales for public transportation, restaurant menus, and much more.

To date, over 58,000 people have signed the Digital Coercion Petition at Digitalcourage, nearly 4,000 of them deliberately on paper. Digitalcourage (and we, too) are committed to ensuring that everyone continues to have the option of living their lives analog in the future. Digitalcourage asks:
- Who is eligible for government benefits?
- Who has access to basic services?
- And who is left out?
- Fundamental rights do not apply only in relation to the state. They also apply to private providers when it comes to key areas such as mobility, culture, and medical care.
- In our view, all services must always remain accessible in analog form as well. Because the greater the disadvantage compared to the digital solution, the stronger the pressure to go digital — and the greater the exclusion.
On May 23, 2026, Constitution Day, the petition is to be handed over to federal politicians in Berlin. The goal is to have at least 75,000 signatures by the time of the handover. Sign now!
