The AfD does not represent the interests of the ‘common man’

Under the headline “Citizens” elect their own gravediggers, we had already spoken out in favor of banning the AfD 10 years ago. Back then, we even took the trouble to read and comment on their election platform. Politicians have failed to respond to the threat from the right. On the contrary, the CDU/CSU are running after their inhumane demands, starting with sealing off the EU against a humanitarian refugee policy, through the abstruse ideas of “restarting” nuclear power plants, to an industrial policy that, with the end of the combustion engine, finally disconnects “car country” Germany from global developments and condemns it to bring up the rear.

Perhaps the topics we mentioned were too specific and not of general interest. So here are a few more very compelling arguments against this gravedigger party, collected by the Grandmas Against the Right.

The AfD claims to be the party of the “little man” — the opposite is true

Voting results in the Bundestag:

5.5 billion euros for social housing? Not approved.
25 billion euros in bridging aid for COVID-19-related revenue losses? Not approved.
Higher tax allowances for single parents? Not approved.
One-time child bonus of €300 per child? Not approved.
More support for caregiving situations arising from the pandemic? Not approved.
More funding for the ‘Digital Pact for Schools’? Not approved.
€2 billion for expanded full-day care? Not approved.
Minimum wage for apprentices? Not approved.
€5.5 billion for improved care in daycare centers? Not approved.
Higher ‘mothers’ pension' for around 10 million pensioners? Not approved.
Higher disability, child-rearing, and survivor's pensions through extended credit periods? Not approved.
New opportunities for the long-term unemployed through wage subsidies? Not approved.
Relief for low-income earners through reduced social security contributions? Not approved.
More security for on-call workers? Not approved.
Vote in the Bundestag on better wages in the care sector. Not approved.
Vote in the Bundestag on October 20, 2022, on a one-time energy allowance for retirees. Not approved.
Vote in the Bundestag in June 2022 on raising the minimum wage. Rejected.

This is a policy driven by big money and certainly not one from which the majority of people can derive any benefit for their lives!

The AfD’s view of women and families in its election platform dates back to 1900

“In its family policy, the AfD is committed to the classical model of the family... and supports people living out traditional gender roles” and “Ideally, families should be able to live on a single income and not have to rely on both parents working.” Living in Germany:

1.7 million single-parent families with minor children — that’s one in five families — not normal?
more than 36,000 rainbow families — not normal?
17 million people living alone (singles, widows, widowers) — that’s one in five households—not normal?
We don’t want to go back to the 1950s. Women shouldn’t have to return to the kitchen and beg for household money. No more of the male sole-earner model, no return to dependency, and an end to the inevitable poverty women face in old age!

German families, German mothers, German children? Who is German, and what constitutes ‘German culture’?
Above all: how much racism is there in such AfD family policies?
“Abortion only for criminal or medical reasons”
Back to soapy water abortions on the kitchen table? Every year, far too many women worldwide die from unsafe abortions. Psychological terror for women with unwanted pregnancies?
Children have a right to be wanted children.

Where is there any argument that could convince a normal, rational person to vote for such a party? And yet it happens — what went wrong with these people?
